I was Wondering what everybody thinks of Duolingo. I think it is a useful tool to help improve and supplement language learning, but I think that by itself it is not enough. (Also a reminder to Duolingo users to do your Spanish unless you want to vanish)
Hola Silas! Great question - I have yet to find anyone who has used Duolingo (even for 500 days+ in a row) that can speak Spanish. They aren't able to form phrases, original thought, etc. I think if you want to use it as a fun game, it's not terrible (though it does have an agenda that does not align with my belief system).... So, from my perspective, sort of a waste of time. A better use of time would be playing "speed" with flashcards or silly sentences, charades, simon says... anything that's not an on-screen option that includes another human, instead of an app.
But - a fun game!
